Transforming a Teen’s Bedroom Using a Sports Themeor Nursery or Tips on Transforming Your Bedroom or Nursery Using a Sports Theme
By Jessica Stockton
The first question is: Does your teen like sports? The second: Do you teen LOVE sports? We are a society obsessed with sports. We watch sports on television and even on the Internet. We listen to sports on the radio. And we play sports every time we have the chance. Even those who are not athletically gifted can play sports through a video game system. If your teen is among those obsessed with sports here are some tips on transforming his or her room with a sports theme. 1. Allow the walls to talk. Let the walls express your love of sports. Paint the colors of your teens own team or favorite sports team on the walls. Then add to the atmosphere with: • Sports wall art • Posters of sports teams • Posters of popular sports personalities • Wallpaper with a sports theme • Wall borders made from hand stencils of sports figures • Sports murals • Wall decals 2. Use decors with a sports theme. The bed clothes or bedding, as well as the pillows, can feature a specific sport; or a particular team of a specific sport. Decorate the bed with throw pillows and/or stuffed toys of the team’s mascot. On the windows, hang curtains that feature a sports team. If you’re a bit creative and adventurous, print close-up photos or colorful caricatures of different sports personalities and paraphernalia on photos paper and create a collage on poster board. Buy sports theme fabrics to sew your own cushions and throws for the bed or a side chair. 3. Plan ahead to keep the expenses within the budget. You don’t have to spend a fortune. Buy an ordinary jersey of a sports team and turn it into a pillow. Purchase used sports equipments, trophies, and memorabilia from resale shops and turn them into décor. From basketball hoops to hockey sticks or bicycle wheels, anything can be turned into wall décor or to frame the edges of a doorway or book shelf. Turn an ordinary lamp into a sport theme lamp by pressing team stickers on the lamp or shade or painting the shade in sports team colors. 4. Turn a bookshelf into a sports-theme centerpiece Add sports theme accents in with books on a shelf to keep the display interesting. To make the sports books more interesting, arrange them in a way that displays the cover of each book. Trophies, helmets, balls and stuffed toy mascots are other items that can be used on a shelf or throughout the room to accent the theme. For any teen who loves sports having a sports theme bedroom is like winning a championship game every day.
