How to Create the Perfect Arrangement of Wall Art
By Alisa Davis
Would you like to learn the most effective way of adding wall art to any room in your house? Well, there’s no ‘magic’ when it comes to arranging wall art. You can experiment with different ways of arranging the art pieces until you find the one that matches your taste perfectly and complements the other furnishings in the room. Here are 8 tips that will give you more ideas on how to find the perfect arrangement:: 1. The asymmetrical pattern is an arrangement that gives off a casual appearance. The asymmetrical arrangement strives to ‘balance’ the over-all effect of wall art pieces on the wall. 2. Wall art looks good when lined vertically. You can create ‘height’ in a room by stacking picture frames or wall art pieces above each other on the wall. Just follow a vertical line upwards starting from an eye-level point. 3. To give off an informal appearance, follow a diagonal line. The diagonal line has asymmetrical and exciting effect that draws the eye upward in an unexpected presentation. 4. Arrange small wall art pieces to look bigger. To make smaller pieces of wall art have big impact, hang several pieces together as one group. Choose different size pieces and arrange them to create a collage or choose identical pieces an arrange them close together in a pattern, such as an upright or inverted ‘U’ 5. Create order and balance by following a symmetrical line. Straight lines are always soothing and pleasant to look at. This arrangement technique is very easy to follow. You just hang two smaller items on each side of one larger item. You may also place one different type of wall art between two similar art pieces. 6. Make your wall ‘zing’ with this diagonal arrangement. The diagonal arrangement always looks great on particular areas like stairways. The wall art items, as well as the ‘shadowboxes’ that contain pictures and other art pieces, will add some pizzazz in any area where they hung. 7. Let the wall art follow a horizontal line. To show off symmetrically framed pictures more effectively, line them up horizontally. You can use this arrangement on art pieces like iron wall art. Following a horizontal line also adds ‘width’ to a narrow room. The space appears wider. 8. Arrange the different sizes of frames to create a ‘box’ shape on the wall. Framed pictures and ‘shadowboxes’ sometimes come in different sizes and styles. You can arrange these together by forming a box-like shape on the wall. Feel free to experiment so that you will find the best arrangement that will offset every piece but still maintain a balanced look. ‘Practice makes perfect.’ Before adding one nail to the wall, experiment with different arrangements on the floor or a work surface to find the arrangement that pleases you. |
