Beautiful Bedroom Wall and Carpet Color Combinations

Carpet is one of the most popular, versatile and functional floor covering choices for many of the rooms in your home. Unless a room is subjected to a very high traffic level or an excess of moisture, carpet can often be the preferred choice. Although you might not want to choose carpeting as your first option when selecting floor covering for your kitchen or bath, it can work quite well in the living room, family room, media room or bedroom. Carpet has long been a popular flooring option for the bedroom, thanks to its warmth, softness and beauty. Although you can choose any color combination you like when selecting bedroom carpeting, here are a few creative ideas to help get you inspired. Neutral Combinations Many people prefer neutral color combinations when decorating the bedroom, since these shades are naturally relaxing and serene. Using neutral shades for the walls and carpeting also makes it easy to accessorize the room with a variety of different colors. By choosing neutral colors, you'll be able to easily change the rest of the colors in the room without having to spend a lot of money. Simply add a few accessories in a different shade, and your room will have a fresh new look. Neutral colors that work well in the bedroom include white, off-white, pastel yellow, browns, and some of the more natural green shades. If you're trying to give the bedroom a contemporary look, cool neutral colors such as gray or even some blue shades can work. Contrasting Colors If you love the modern room designs you frequently see on television home decorating shows, then contrasting colors could work well in your bedroom. To make things easy, try combining bold room colors with white, black or neutral carpet color shades. Or, switch things around by using bold carpet shades combined with light wall colors. However, it's important to note that when you use bold or highly contrasting shades, it will be a bit more difficult to make quick changes to the overall look of your bedroom. For this reason, most people prefer to use the bolder or brighter shade on the walls, since it's easier and less expensive to paint the walls than to replace the carpet. Combining Colors and Textures In addition to combining different colors, you can also add a lot of visual interest to the bedroom by incorporating textures. Unique textures and colors will help give your bedroom a contemporary look and feel. You can also use texture and color combinations to connect the bedroom visually to one or more of the surrounding room, such as blending the master bedroom and the master bathroom together. For example, if you've used a really stunning marble for the bathroom vanity, you could mirror this same texture in the bedroom by adding a faux marble finish to one or more of the walls. However, if you do something interesting with texture on the walls, then it's usually best to stick with a more neutral carpet color and texture. The overall look will be more complementary, plus it will be easier to remodel in the future when you're ready for a new look.
