8 Super Tips to Help You Create the Best Garden-Themed Bedroom

By Alyssa Davis

Are you fond of nature? Do you enjoy gardening and observing season changes in your landscape? Do you enjoy watching the antics of birds in your garden? If you enjoy natural beauty you may wish to consider using a garden theme in your bedroom. This theme will create a calm and peaceful aura in your surroundings, which is the same natural high that you get when enjoying birds and blooms outdoors.
Here are 8 super tips on how to create a great garden theme in the bedroom:

1. Observe the fundamental elements of nature and use them in your design.
Close your eyes and imagine that you're outside in the garden. Think about the things about nature that helps you feel calm and relaxed. Jot each one down on a small notebook so you will not forget what you thought. Here are some items that may be included in your list:
• Flowers
• Grasses
• Birds and Wildlife
• Shrubs
• Trees
These items maybe duplicated in bedding, wall paper and accents throughout the bedroom to imitate everything you love about the ‘Great Outdoors.’

2. Add plant and flower wall art.
Different kinds of wall art are available in stores. Choose the kinds that will promote the garden theme inside your room. Feel free to try various arrangements with wall art pieces like tree metal wall art or wall pockets and wall vases that can be filled with your favorite blooms. Framed art reflecting garden scenes, birds and bird houses or a casual potting shed are other possible themes to help you create a focal point on the wall.

3. Add stenciled plants and flowers.
You may use stenciled shapes of flowers and leaves on walls, bed head or foot board, chairs, and other furniture inside the bedroom. Or, if your artistically inclined, create your own designs freehand. Mix colors to make your designs more interesting and more life-like.

4. Include the bed and the bedding in your design.
Floral designs are printed on assorted bed accessory items like the bed sheets, bed covers, quilts, and pillows. There are also pillows shaped like flowers or butterflies. Add patterns in strips, checks and solids to add contrast and a designer touch.

5. Choose subtle shades of colors as wall paints.
Imitate the serenity and peacefulness of the garden with your color choices: Light shades of green, blue, yellow, pink, and lavender will underscore a comfortable and appealing ambiance for rest and relaxation.
6. Get creative.

Use a piece of picket fence in place of headboard and weave in vines, faux flowers and tiny white lights. Or choose a large wrought iron gate or tree metal wall art as a headboard or focal point. Press fresh flowers and create your own botanical prints. Use a plant stand as a side table. Think about your favorite garden flowers and scenes and recreate that look in your bedroom.
