The word ‘art’ will trigger a lot of images inside your mind. You may imagine a portrait, landscape, or a still life painting. You may even think about sculpture but for most people, this will be an afterthought. Typically, the mind often relates ‘art’ with ‘painting’, and vice versa. Art comes in many forms and mediums like sculptures, sketches, pottery and mixed media. One of the many fascinating styles of art is the wall art. Wall art is a category that can be broken down into sub-categories, also known as types. Here are 6 impressive types of decorative wall art to choose for your home: 1. Wall grilles. In history, grilles are often mentioned as protection for doors and windows. Today, wall grills are used as decorations. The styles of present grilles resembled the designs from by-gone eras like the Renaissance and Baroque. Some grilles look more contemporary in form. Wall grilles can be found in any size, from a single piece large enough to fill a wall, to small pieces that can be used as accents or grouped together. There are also round and tall grilles, square, rectangular and irregular shapes to choose from. 2. Wall wine rack. Display your wine bottles in different ways. Styles of wall wine rack come in symmetrical patterns or elaborate ornate designs. This type of decorative wall art is an attractive piece that complements any dining space. 3. Wall vases. Vases are often seen on top of tables and desks. Anywhere you put a vase, especially when filled with flowers, you create a sense of style. This is the same with wall vases. With or without flowers and foliage, a wall vase can liven up the wall. A pair of wall vases gives off a contemporary look. 4. Wall shelves. It is possible to decorate your wall with candles, photographs, figurines, and decorative vases by installing wall shelves. These are more versatile than bookshelves. There are different styles that belong to ancient art forms like Gothic, Renaissance, Roman, and Greek. Display your collectibles on wall shelves and create some impact. 5. Wall clocks. Digital clocks often look dull on walls. Choose to hang a ‘manual’ clock that not only gives the correct time but also gives style to your wall. Wall clocks are considered decorative wall art, and they come in different styles, sizes, and shapes. They can be found with modular or an ornate look. 6. Wall shadowboxes. Shadowboxes were originally given by the military to sailors, when these men left their ships or retired from the military. A wall shadowbox is basically a narrow box that displays a picture or an ornament. The three-dimensional element of the box adds more depth to your wall.
