6 Easy Steps for Installing Wall Decor

Wall decor should be properly displayed in order to get the greatest decorative impact.
If the rooms in your home seemed cluttered or unbalanced, randomly hung wall decor may be the culprits. You need to use a methodical approach in order to achieve outstanding results. Here are 6 easy-to-follow steps to guide you on installing your wall décor sets: 1. Choose the positions of all the wall decor pieces.
Place all the wall decor items for each grouping on a large table or on a vacant space on the floor. Try arranging each piece differently. Rotate them around. Group similar shapes together or scatter them around the piece with the most unique shape. Once you’re satisfied with the overall arrangement, trace the shape of each wall décor and attach the paper templates to the wall with painter’s tape. This way you can arrange and rearrange to your heart’s content, until you get exactly the arrangement you want. Keep in mind that you want the center of your arrangement approximately sixty inches from the floor, which is an average eye level. On tall walls, your arrangement may be higher to keep in scale with the room. 2. Try different layout designs with your paper templates.
There are different kinds of layout designs. You can use a symmetrical, horizontal, and vertical arrangement.
With symmetrical, a small-sized decor piece is placed on the left and right side of a large-sized wall art piece. With horizontal and vertical, you may place three art pieces in a row with sideward or upward direction.
An asymmetrical layout involves placing a large-sized wall art piece off-center; then position small-sized pieces staggered to the side, on top, and/or below of the centerpiece. An asymmetrical arrangement results in a casual atmosphere and is ideal for less formal spaces, such as a music room accented with musical note wall decor. 3. Avoid accidents.
Before installing the new wall decor using the new layout design, remove all existing wall decors so that no items will fall on the floor or on you! Pull off any nails and screws that may interfere with the positioning of the new arrangement. Any holes that will be visible should be filled, primed and touched up with paint. 5. Attach the nails, screws, or hooks at their proper positions on the wall. Using your paper templates as a guide, use a soft pencil to make a slight mark on the wall showing where the fastener should go. Check the piece of wall art first to make sure that you are aligning the position of the hanger on paper template with the actual hanger on the piece of art.

If you’re installing a shelf on the wall, you should follow the basic steps of installation. Avoid having an askew shelf by using a level to measure the horizontal balance of the unit. Attach wall anchors beneath heavy-weight shelves to give additional support. |
